Jesus Storybook Bible Reading Plan25 Days of the Christmas Story: An Advent Family Experience

Our goal in our NWBC kids’ ministry is to partner with parents to point children toward a heart for God. We accomplish this through developing real relationships with our families, age-appropriate teaching and worship, and discipleship.

“We will not hide them from their children, but tell the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and His might, and the wonders He has done.” – Psalm 78:4, ESV

Sunday Mornings:

On Sundays during Sunday school, Junior Worship, and children’s church, we will be continuing our journey through the Old Testament with our series, "From Rebellion to Exile” from The Gospel Project. This curriculum is a fun, engaging way for kids to learn about the entire Bible and see how every story points back to Jesus. Each week is packed with worship, interactive lessons, and small group time where kids can connect with their leaders and friends. This Fall, our kids will be journeying through the books of 1 & 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles, Isaiah, Zephaniah, Jonah, and Nahum. Some Key Ideas we will study are:

  • What is idolatry? Idolatry is a sin of the heart in which we love and value something else above God.

  • What is repentance? Repentance is turning away from sin and turning to Jesus.

  • What makes people special? People are special because we are made in God’s image, as male and female, to know Him.

NEW TO SUNDAY MORNINGS  - Praise Party for our 2s-Kindergarten classes. On promotion Sunday, we began a new emphasis on worship with our 2s/3s Class and our Pre-K/Kinder Class. They all come together to sing worship songs, play instruments, memorize scripture, and experience the Bible Lesson of the morning! Praise party is from 10:25-10:45 each Sunday, and we will transport children to and from their regular classes to attend. We believe this dedicated time is important for a few key reasons:

  • Understanding Worship: We teach kids what worship is and why it's something we offer to God. It's about more than just songs-it's about our hearts!

  • Showing Reverence: We instruct children on how to show respect and reverence to God. This helps them understand the difference between everyday actions and our special time set aside to honor Him.

  • Worship is Joyful: We demonstrate that worship isn't just a serious act; it can also be a fun, engaging, and joyful experience.

WEDNESDAYS

Wednesday nights are a huge win for everyone in the family! We kick things off with a Family Meal at 5:30 PM, a great chance to connect and share a meal together.

For our 4th and 5th graders, we have a unique opportunity to join our Kids Leadership Team from 5:45-6:15 PM. We'll spend this time studying how Jesus led and then give them practical ways to use those leadership skills throughout the night.

Then, from 6:30-7:30 PM, it's time for our main Midweek Ministries! This fall, we're using the awesome HyFi curriculum from Lifeway to explore some of the most important truths in the Bible, focusing on themes like: "I am known," "I am forgiven," "I am made for community," and "I am never alone."
And while the kids are learning and growing, adults are invited to join the Pastor's Study for a time of their own. Wednesday nights are truly a great way for the whole family to connect and grow together!
